Most popular reptile pets that are kept in the UK originate from countries with warm climates and because these pets are cold blooded they do not have the ability to control body temperature in the way that humans can.  Therefore it is essential that some heating is provided but placing your vivarium next to a radiator just won’t cut it!!! 

Vivarium heat mats are an excellent way to provide a balanced temperature for your reptile since the mat is placed on one side of the vivarium to create a great hot spot whilst leaving a cool area on the other side.  Bear in mind that each reptile will have specific requirements in terms of temperature so make sure that you research your pet well before purchasing a snake heat mat or reptile heat mat with thermostat.  If in doubt do give us a call and we can advise you on the best product for your particular reptile.
